What is this food connection ?

It is not always easy to find your way through the many European standards used for food fittings. To make it easier to connect tanks, pumps, filters and other equipment, we offer a guide to help you identify your fitting and find replacement parts.

1) Nut shape

L'écrou présent dans votre raccord en inox est un premier élément d'identification visuelle.

hexagonal nut Cylindrical with large chamfer Cylindrical with small chamfer
Hexagonal Cylindrical with large chamfer Cylindrical with small chamfer

  • Hex nuts are only present in IDF and RJT fittings.
  • Cylindrical nuts with a large chamfer are used by SMS and Macon fittings.
  • Cylindrical nuts with a small chamfer are found in DIN (11851 or 11864-1), RJT and IDF fittings.

2) Seal shape

Each connection standard uses a seal with a characteristic profile shape :

  • O-ring for DIN 11864-1 Form A and RJT fittings
  • D-shaped for DIN 1185 fittings
  • With square cross-section for Macon or DIN 11864-1 Form B fittings
  • L-section for SMS fittings
  • T-section for IDF fittings.
